Whether you’re looking for delicious keto cookies or easy keto-friendly dinner recipes, I’ve found that my favorite recipes are often the ones that remind me of my old favorites. This makes meal times easier and keeps me from feeling deprived. I’m not ‘missing out’ on anything if I can give my favorites a healthy twist. This is the biggest tip that I give anyone that’s giving keto or paleo diets a try for the first time!
That said, it can be challenging to replicate the textures created with traditional baking flours. Paleo and keto-friendly flours like almond flour or coconut flour can be tricky to work with and I’ve found them far less forgiving than regular baking flours. But I don’t think this should stop you from trying to create some of your favorite breads at home!
There are so many incredible keto bread recipes already tested and ready for you to try. This means that you can skip the frustration of fiddling with ingredient ratios. Move straight on to enjoying a keto-friendly sandwich!
While cloud bread recipes have been a bit of a trend for keto and paleo followers, these replicate the texture and density of sandwich breads. Cloud bread recipes are light and airy, but these breads will hold their own against toasting and supporting your favorite sandwich ingredients (like bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes!).

How To Make Easy Keto and Paleo Bread Recipes
I recommend measuring your ingredients in weight rather than quantity. Almond flour, in particular, can be tricky to measure by volume and this can throw off the consistency of your keto baked goods. I would also suggest sifting or whisking your dry ingredients together. While this isn’t mandatory, it will help you achieve a more consistent texture.
And remember almond flour and coconut flour are not interchangeable in recipes. They have very different properties so it’s important to use the flour that the recipe calls for so you don’t end up with a baking fail!
When working with your wet and dry ingredients, some recipes will call for folding the egg whites in after the rest of your ingredients are mixed to help create a lighter texture in your keto bread. It’s important to pay attention to the recipe instructions when mixing your ingredients, as there are often tips that will give you better results with your keto and paleo breads.
Another area where keto baking differs from traditional baking is in pan preparation. Like many other gluten-free bakers, I recommend lining your pan with parchment paper rather than relying on a greased non-stick pan. This is your best bet at ensuring that your keto bread doesn’t stick to your pan! The other tip I have for a beautiful keto bread loaf is rounding the top of your dough before placing it in the oven. This shaping also helps reduce the chance that your loaf will sink during baking.
You’ll also notice that many of these recipes bake at a temperature that’s lower than your favorite traditional recipes. Resist the temptation to increase your oven temperature! This lower baking temperature helps ensure that your bread cooks evenly. For best results, try preheating your oven for at least 15 minutes.
Finally, you can’t always rely on the toothpick test when checking your loaf for doneness. While this may feel counterintuitive, the toothpick test can have you believing your keto bread is done before it actually is ready to come out of the oven. Instead, check the top of your loaf for firmness. You can also check your loaf’s internal temperature with a thermometer — it should read at no less than 200F.
