I love pumpkin pie spice. This is my favorite pumpkin spice mix recipe and it is so easy to make at home. You probably have all of the ingredients in your cupboard.

Pumpkin spice is good on everything this time of year. Anything with pumpkin is obvious, but I like it in hot apple cider or sprinkled on top of a cappuccino. It adds a wonderful spice to baked goods and a lovely warmth to savory dishes.

I like quite a bit of cinnamon in the mix. I think cinnamon is the star of the pumpkin pie blend and the other spices play a supporting role. Ginger and nutmeg add warmth. And a little bit of allspice gives it some complexity.

The great thing about making your own pumpkin spice blend is that you can adjust it to your taste. Add extra ginger or use ground cloves instead of allspice. Experiment with the blend of spices until you get it just the way you like it.

    Ingredients you'll need

I like to keep my pumpkin spice blend simple and classic. You'll need just four ingredients.

    • cinnamon
    • ginger
    • nutmeg
    • allspice

    How to make it

Just measure out the spices and blend them thoroughly in a small bowl using a small whisk or spoon.

Store the spice mixture in a glass jar or bottle. Add a label and use it whenever you need a pumpkin spice blend. I also use this blend when a recipe calls for apple pie spice.

However you mix it, it's great to have a jar of pumpkin pie spice on the counter to add a little fall flavor to whatever you're making. And of course, it's perfect for everything pumpkin.

Hi! Sorry but I have allergies so can you tell what is actually in All Spice?
I cannot eat chilli or paprika and similar spices.
      Thanks x

Hi Zoe, allspice is a single spice that tastes like a combination of warm spices. You can read more about it here.
