Ingredients
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this air fryer sweet potato fries recipe.

- Sweet potatoes - peeled and cut into evenly sized thin fries for the best texture.
- Avocado oil - has a neutral flavor and coats the fries to help them crisp up. You can also sub another high-smoke-point oil.
- Salt and pepper - sea salt brings out the natural sweetness of the potatoes and black pepper adds just a hint of spice and depth of flavor.
Instructions
Here's how to make crispy air fryer sweet potato fries in the air fryer.
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F for about 5 minutes or according to your air fryer's instructions.

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into thin fries, about ¼-inch thick.
Place the fries in a large bowl and drizzle with avocado oil. Toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then toss again to distribute the seasoning.

Arrange the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook them in batches if they don't all fit in a single layer.
Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5-7 minutes until the fries are crisp and browned on the edges.

How long to cook sweet potato fries in the air fryer
The cook time depends on how thick you cut the fries and how crisp you want them. Thinner fries will cook faster, while thicker fries may need a couple of extra minutes. Start checking for doneness around the 12-minute mark and adjust as needed.
Serving suggestions
Sweet potato fries are always good on their own, but they're even better with a dip. Ketchup is a classic, but you can switch it up with ranch dressing, mayo or barbecue sauce. If you want to play with flavor, try sprinkling on garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, or even a touch of cinnamon before serving.
