This is my favorite quick and easy paleo ranch dressing recipe. If you already have some paleo mayo in the fridge, it will only take a minute or two to stir together. Even if you need to whip up a quick batch of mayonnaise, you can be eating this tangy ranch dip in 10 minutes.

While packaged ranch dressing is often keto, it's usually loaded with dairy, soy, processed food chemicals and industrial oils. The ingredients in a bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch, for example, include vegetable oil, sugar, modified food starch, MSG and preservatives. And if you use the ranch dressing packet, the first ingredient is maltodextrin and there's more MSG than dried garlic, onion or spices! Definitely not healthy or paleo-friendly.

    Ingredients you'll need

To make this ranch dressing keto and paleo, I swap out the ingredients for healthier alternatives. You can make the dressing with homemade mayonnaise or use a store-bought paleo mayo to make it even easier. Either way, the basic mayonnaise ingredients will include a healthy oil, egg, lemon juice, and mustard. No sugar needed.

This dressing is completely dairy-free. While traditional homemade ranch dressings are made with buttermilk, this recipe uses a little bit of coconut milk and lemon juice to recreate that creamy, tangy flavor.

Add garlic and fresh herbs and you've got a dressing everyone will love.

    How to make it

This dressing couldn't be easier to make - just whisk the ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Then add salt and pepper, taste and adjust the seasonings.

I like to make it on the thicker side, so it works as a dip too. If you prefer it thinner, just adjust the proportions to your liking.

Oh, the things you can do with this easy ranch dressing. It's an amazing dip for crudités. I love it with carrot and celery sticks, but it really works with any veggies. Serve it as a dip with chicken wings. And of course, it's wonderful on a wedge salad topped with scallions and crumbled bacon.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup paleo mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
    • ¼ cup full fat coconut milk
    • 1 clove garlic minced
    • 2 tablespoons minced fresh herbs parsley, basil and chives
    • sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

    Instructions

    • Whisk all ingredients together.
    • Taste and adjust seasonings.

    Notes

If you don't have fresh herbs available, you can substitute dry herbs using ⅓ of the amount of fresh herbs called for in the recipe. So in this case use 2 teaspoons instead of 2 tablespoons. It's always best to start with a smaller amount and increase to taste.

I usually try to use it within a few days, just to be on the safe side.

Is there something I can substitute for the coconut milk, I'm allergic to coconut, and it is making it difficult to do the paleo thing when everything calls for coconut oil or milk. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

thank you for this! Great idea using coconut milk, and also for the mayonnaise recipe. I've always had to use a food processor so prefer the your hand made version

I overdid it and doubled the recipe. Silly me. Can I freeze it for later use?
