Ingredients you'll need
There are just 4 essential ingredients needed to make this banana bread smoothie.
- Cashew milk - I use homemade cashew milk. But you could always substitute almond milk or your favorite milk in this recipe.
- Frozen bananas - I always keep bananas in the freezer for making smoothies or banana ice cream. They add a milkshake-like texture to the smoothie.
- Almond butter - Almond butter adds nutty flavor and texture. You can substitute other nut butters like cashew butter for a milder flavor or sun butter (sun flower seed butter) for a peanut butter flavor.
- Nutmeg - Fresh ground nutmeg has the best flavor, but you can substitute ground nutmeg or cinnamon as well.
How to make it
This smoothie couldn't be simpler to make. Just Just toss the simple ingredients in the blender, and blend until smooth. A high power blender link a Vitamix or Blendtec makes it fast and easy to get a perfectly smooth texture.
Variations
Try a few of these add-ins to mix up your smoothie flavors.
- Strawberries - Add strawberries for a classic strawberry banana smoothie. Or your favorite berries for a banana berry version.
- Chocolate - Add cacao powder or chocolate chips for a chocolate banana flavor.
- Protein powder - Add collagen or your favorite protein powder for an extra boost. Or pair it with banana protein muffins for a great on-the-go breakfast.
No matter how you make it, you will love this quick and easy banana breakfast smoothie. The frozen banana makes it creamy, the almond butter adds a little nuttiness, and the nutmeg brings out the banana bread flavor.

I am allergic to cashews, would you be able to use coconut or almond milk in place of the cashew milk?
Lisa
Taylor, I would try almond milk. I think that would be good with it. If you try it, let me know how it turns out!

This was the best smoothie I have ever had! I used cashew butter (addicted!) instead of almond butter. Holy cow. I don't know why anyone would want to buy a smoothie when they can make this!
