This paleo chocolate coconut smoothie is creamy, chocolaty, and slightly sweet with no dairy or added sugar.

This paleo chocolate coconut smoothie is creamy and chocolaty with no dairy or added sugar. It has just 5 ingredients and as much protein as a couple eggs. | cookeatpaleo.com

It was recently brought to my attention that I didn’t have a chocolate smoothie on the blog. How did this happen? So I had to create this chocolate coconut smoothie. I wanted something that was chocolaty and decadent like a chocolate milkshake — but without milk, ice cream, or sugar. I also wanted to add some extra protein so I could use it for a quick breakfast.

The result is a fast and easy chocolate smoothie with just 5 ingredients and as much protein as a couple eggs. The dark chocolate flavor comes from raw cacao, and frozen bananas add a touch of sweetness. The combination of full fat coconut milk and ice makes it smooth and creamy. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. You can read our full disclosure policy here.

I’ve been adding this collagen protein to my smoothies lately. The addition of collagen protein (hydrolyzed collagen) adds 10 grams of protein per serving. So with 2 grams of protein from the coconut milk, this smoothie packs just as much protein as the 12 grams of protein in two large eggs.

If you’re not familiar with collagen protein, here’s a complete guide to collagen – what it is and how to use it.

My taste testers gave this chocolate protein shake two thumbs up. It’s perfect when you need something quick before you run out the door.

I add collagen hydrolysate to my tea every morning, but I love this idea as well, Lisa! They look so delicious!

This looks soo good! I can’t wait to give it a try! Do you slice the bananas and then freeze them?

Sami, you can do it either way. I usually peel the bananas and freeze them whole, then just cut them up as needed.

I am allergic to bananas. What would you recommend as a substitute?

Hi Penny, the banana adds creaminess and sweetness. You can substitute 1/4 of an avocado and honey to taste to replace the banana.
