I love a good green smoothie. And this mango spinach smoothie is my new favorite. With just four ingredients, it tastes like a tropical creamsicle. It's completely dairy-free and sweetened only with fruit. And most importantly, you can't taste the spinach at all.

I'm adding this mango green smoothie to my smoothie recipes for the week. I had it for breakfast this morning and I feel healthier already.
Here's What You'll Need
- Baby Spinach − fresh spinach makes it easy to blend in veggies.
- Fresh Orange Juice − the orange juice in this smoothie recipe is used for a sweetener as well as adding flavor.
- Coconut Milk − coconut milk is a great plant-based dairy-free milk option. Be sure to use one without additives like this one. It will add to the creaminess of this smoothie recipe while also offering a bit more tropical flavor to compliment the mango.
- Frozen Mango − adding frozen fruit to a smoothie allows you to thicken the smoothie and achieve the texture and consistency you are looking for.
How To Make It
To make a delicious mango spinach smoothie, add all your ingredients except the frozen mango to the blender. Blend the mixture at high speed until it has a smooth consistency. You can then start adding in your frozen mango chunks. Blend and enjoy!
In addition to the four main ingredients needed to make these green smoothies, you can add flax seed, chia seeds, fresh ginger, avocado or frozen pineapple. The mango in this smoothie recipe can also be paired with whatever frozen fruit you enjoy the most.
How To Serve Your Smoothie
These smoothies would make a great on-the-go breakfast or snack or can be eaten at any time of the day. A glass container with a straw is the best way to serve your smoothie. Bonus: when you use a glass container, you can see the smoothie's beautiful color!
Consider turning your smoothie into a smoothie bowl for a complete healthy meal option. You can add dried coconut flakes, chia seed, nut butter and sliced fresh fruit like ripe bananas and eat it out of a bowl with a spoon.
More Tips
- If the smoothie is too thick, you can add some water or coconut water to thin it. If it is too thin, you can add more frozen mango or some ice.
- Use fresh or frozen fruit that doesn't have any added sugars. When using frozen fruit, read the label and make sure that fruit is the only ingredient.
- Don't be afraid of leafy greens. The spinach in this smoothie recipe provides added nutrition. It is also a mild-tasting green, so you won't taste it over the fruit and juice. You can substitute kale, but you may taste it in the smoothie.
- The frozen mango goes a long way to cover the taste of spinach. The mango is naturally sweet and tropical, making it a great option in this green smoothie recipe.
- If you don't want to use coconut milk, an alternative non-dairy milk is unsweetened almond milk or cashew milk. It's just as creamy as coconut milk and is still a good choice for those who are dairy-free.
- You can add your favorite protein powder for a boost of protein. Vanilla protein powder would make a great choice.
- If you aren't dairy-free, you can add plain Greek yogurt to this healthy smoothie recipe for an added protein boost.
Can you store this mango spinach smoothie?
If you have any leftover green smoothies, you can store them in the refrigerator in an airtight jar for up to a day. You can also freeze your leftover smoothie for up to three months. Let your mango spinach green smoothie thaw overnight in the refrigerator before drinking.
Can you use frozen spinach instead of fresh spinach?
Frozen spinach can be used if you don't have fresh spinach on hand for this smoothie recipe.
Frozen spinach is much more compact, so you will want to use less than the amount of fresh spinach the recipe calls for.
So, instead of one cup of fresh spinach, you can use ⅓ cup of frozen spinach. Do not defrost it beforehand.
Can you use raw spinach in a smoothie?
Yes! Chopping up fresh spinach and adding it to your smoothie is one of the healthiest ways to eat it. If you use a high-speed blender, it will be completely smooth.
